Permanent residence and British citizenship

ILR STATUS

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is an immigration status which allows the person who holds it to live and work in the UK for an unlimited time, without any need to apply for a visa extension. It is also called Permanent Residency Permit.

To get an ILR status, an endorsee will have to remain in the UK for a period of 6 months per year at a minimum. Nonetheless, the rest of the year you are free to travel and can reside in another country.

After receiving ILR status you can travel freely, however, you should not be outside UK for more than two years in a row, or you may lose your ILR status.

You can also spend as long as you want outside the UK without being subject to immigration restrictions.

The process

APPLICATION FOR ENDORSEMENT
2 – 8 weeks
In the first stage, an endorsing body (Tech Nation) assesses the candidate's application and endorses the applicant, confirming that the applicant satisfies the high bar for talent. As a result of this step, Tech Nation issues an Endorsement Letter.
APPLICATION FOR VISA
3 weeks
In the second stage, an immigration body (Home Office) considers the immigration aspects of your case and makes sure that general grounds for visa refusal do not apply.

How Kosmo helps clients with UK Global Talent Visa?

We work hard to make sure that our customers get endorsement. Here's how we accomplish that goal:
We work on your application to demonstrate two things:
Contribution
You have contributed to the tech industry by being a founder, manager, or employee in a tech company. You have created significant impact on technical or business side of things.
Recognition
People seek your knowledge and expertise. Other industry leaders and experts recognise you as a leader or emerging leader in the tech sector.
The contribution
While working on your case we will have to demonstrate that you have made meaningful contribution in digital technology sector over the last 5 years. This could be technical, commercial or entrepreneurial contributions, which you have made as a founder, senior executive, board member or employee of a product-led digital technology company. Alternatively, this could be academic contribution to the body of knowledge through scientific publication or another academic work endorsed by an expert.
Impact
In your application we will demonstrate what greater results your work helped to achieve for the whole organisation, clients, and possible other stakeholders. Impact could be an improvement in technology or business, measured either in technical or monetary terms.
Innovation
We can demonstrate Innovation by providing evidence of any genuine and significant product-led digital technology businesses you have established as a founder or senior executive which is currently active or has been dissolved in the last five years.

If you are an employee working in a new digital field or concept, this must be clearly demonstrated, for example by providing a patent application.

Please note that papers or patent applications which have been made solely to support the application are unacceptable.
Leadership / Leadership Potential
We will have to demonstrate that you are either already a leader or have leadership potential in tech sector.

Tech Nation recognises a broad range of leadership experiences. You could lead a technical or business initiative, you could be responsible for a team, you could be working on a project besides your daily job.
The recognition
We will also have to demonstrate that you are recognised as a leader or potential leader in digital technology sector. Such recognition should be granted by other recognised leaders or experts and it could be national or international. Types of evidence that confirm such recognition could include: letters of reference from senior colleagues or partners, public speaking at conferences or other professional events, media publications or awards. We will help you to collect the required set of evidence and pack it into a coherent and powerful story!
Letters of reference
The Tech Nation requires at least 3 Letters of Reference, which must satisfy certain criteria.

- Letters of Reference should be provided by leading industry experts, senior global executives or partners/customers familiar with your work and your contribution. Reference Letters provided by an immediate colleague, manager, or friend are not sufficient.

- Letters of Reference must be unique and authentic. Use of templates is not acceptable and may weaken your application or even raise concerns regarding the validity of your application.

- Letters of Reference alone are not sufficient and should be supported by other evidence.
Public speaking
Public appearances at conferences or other similar events would be a benefit. Such evidence demonstrates that other industry experts, conference organisers, and attendees recognise you as a leader in your field.

We recommend our clients always take a chance to speak at such events.
Media appearances
We recommend to collect and include all the media publications mentioning you. Evidence of media recognition should include details about the publication, such as target audience, number of readers, etc.

Please note, that LinkedIn or Medium publications are not considered sufficient by Tech Nation.

There is also an opportunity to additionally strengthen the profile by writing and publishing several articles at known media.
Awards
Award could be also one of the ways to demonstrate recognition. For example, this could be nationally or internationally recognised prizes or awards for excellence in the digital technology sector.

This could be evidenced by the award itself, reference letters, or news clippings or other similar evidence. Awards could have both business and academic. Awards must be merit-based and not solely monetary (e.g. grants or scholarships). It is important to include selection criteria for the award and other quantitative information.

Internal company awards, training or certificates might be not sufficient.

Endoresment & Visa stage

For the Endorsement stage — we will work with you on your application structuring your profile and collecting evidence to tackle Tech Nation's mandatory and optional criteria.
This visa stage does not require much preparation; it only requires your passport and the endorsement letter (plus a tuberculosis test for applicants from certain countries)

Kosmo made it super easy to apply for the Global Talent Visa! After the initial discovery call, I already knew that I have partnered with the right people to work on my application. The team organised and drove the whole process, I just gave my inputs, often in a very random, disorganised way (sorry guys). But they turned it into powerfully written documents. Well done! Definitely recommend the team to anyone who considers applying for a Global Talent.

Chief Product Officer
I initially tried to work on my application on my own and it was a nightmare. Then I discovered Kosmo, and these guys delivered! They were extremely helpful in guiding me through the whole process, answered all my questions and concerns, and turned my ramblings into powerful application documents. I only wish I started with them from the  beginning – this would save me a ton of time! The application process is not easy and it's nice to have someone with experience on your side when applying.

Excellent service. Great professional team. Quickly understood my profile and dug deep to extract additional details on both the technical and business sides. It was a  pleasure working with a team that actually understands the world of IT. They convinced me that certain boring details were important and must be included in the application – something that I would have not done on my own and probably would have got rejected! But Team Kosmo did a truly cosmic job with polishing my application and I got approved! See you somewhere in London :)

Senior ML Engineer
I have strong academic background and some initial experience working in R&D department of a large international consumer electronics brand. I was worried that despite some innovation track record I might have not enough business impact and not enough recognition. So, initially I reached our to Kosmo for advice on how to better prepare for application over the coming 2-3 years. However, after initial call they concluded that I could be great fit for Promise route and encouraged me to apply now! If I rejected now, nothing stops from applying again in a couple of years. So we decided to apply and I got endorsed. Thank you Kosmo for saving me years!!!

Venture Capital Professional
I am a former investment banked turned venture capital professional. Having worked in several geographies including the UK, I understood that I would like to permanently settle in the UK and the Global Talent Visa was my top priority route. Our first application was rejected and I was determined to start the plan B, however Kosmo team ensured me to wait – they said that this is not the end, and there is good chance to win an appeal. This is exactly what happened! They prepared a massive appeal document and the decision was revised! Thank you Kosmo!
